Why we exist.
The Nashville Institute of Massage & Bodywork prepares men and women in greater Nashville for rewarding, sustainable careers as Licensed Massage Therapists. We do this through an accelerated, classroom-based program grounded in anatomy, hands-on technique, professional ethics, and clinical practice — taught by therapists who have spent their own careers in the field.
Founded by Tennessee massage owners — for Tennessee massage students.
NIMB was founded in 2024 by Steve Cram and Joe Szablewski — local franchise owners who between them operate four Massage Envy locations in greater Nashville (Bellevue, Brentwood North, Belle Meade, and Green Hills) — together with Bill Mullins, a thirty-year veteran of massage therapy education and a standing member of the Tennessee Massage Licensure Board.
The motivation was simple. Tennessee — and Nashville in particular — has a chronic, growing shortage of Licensed Massage Therapists. Existing schools were turning out fewer graduates each year, while spas, clinics, hospitals, and franchises across Middle Tennessee struggled to staff their tables.
NIMB was built to close that gap. Our five-month accelerated program meets all 650 contact hours required by the State of Tennessee, while giving students an unusually clear line of sight to employment after graduation.

NIMB is authorized for operation as a postsecondary educational institution by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) under Institution Code #2093, in accordance with the Tennessee Higher Education Authorization Act of 2016.
NIMB is also licensed by the Tennessee Department of Health, Board of Massage Licensure, as Massage Establishment #6896.
Students who successfully complete the program receive a Certificate of Completion, earn the right to sit for the MBLEx, and become eligible to apply for Tennessee state licensure as a Licensed Massage Therapist.

NIMB's classroom and student clinic are located in South Nashville at 311 Plus Park Blvd, Suite 270, just off I-24 near the airport. The campus offers free parking, easy interstate access from Brentwood, Antioch, Bellevue, Hermitage, Donelson, Murfreesboro, and downtown Nashville, and is on a major bus line.
